Overview

SVG Preflight MCP is a small, local tool server for developers building AI-assisted image workflows. It exposes two read-only tools over standard input/output: validate_crop checks whether a proposed crop stays inside a source image, and fit_dimensions calculates proportional output sizes within target bounds.

The tools take integer dimensions and coordinates, making their results useful when an assistant prepares an image-editing handoff. validate_crop reports edges and pixel areas for exact-edge and out-of-bounds cases. fit_dimensions preserves aspect ratio, prevents upscaling by default and reports rounding error. Geometry checks run locally using Python 3.10+ and the standard library, without accounts, API keys, model calls or network requests.

The official page includes setup instructions, MCP client configuration, worked examples, the four-file MIT source ZIP and a public repository. The included tests cover a real stdio handshake, tool discovery and invocation. SVG Preflight MCP is free and open source. The same publisher maintains JPG to SVG's browser image editor as an optional visual step after the geometry calculation.
