Zi Wei Dou Shu

What is Zi Wei Dou Shu Calculator?

Zi Wei Dou Shu Calculator is an English-language tool for generating a traditional Chinese natal chart known as Zi Wei Dou Shu, often introduced as Chinese Purple Star Astrology. It presents a free reading that organizes a birth chart into 12 life areas and uses symbolic stars to describe recurring styles of thinking, relating, working, and making decisions. It also supports personal readings, relationship compatibility, and paid AI full readings. The system is not equivalent to Western astrology and has its own timing methods, star relationships, and interpretive rules. For learners familiar with Western astrology, the Palaces can feel somewhat house-like, and Major Stars can be learned as archetypal characters, but that comparison is only a learning aid.

How Zi Wei Dou Shu Calculator works

Users enter birth details for a Personal Reading or Relationship Compatibility. The form requests birth date, birth time to the minute, birth place, and gender. There is an option to use true solar time for more accurate results. After typing a birth place, the user selects a search result to confirm it, then requests a free life reading. The chart is organized into 12 Palaces, each representing a life area such as identity, partnership, money, career, home, wellbeing, family, and social networks. The 14 Major Stars describe archetypal operating styles, such as executive, strategist, operator, caretaker, networker, mediator, mentor, commander, or reformer. A Star in a Palace is interpreted as an archetype in context: the Star indicates how, while the Palace indicates where. The page notes that a strategist archetype in the Career Palace describes a different pattern from the same archetype in the Partnership Palace.

Limitations

The site states that content is for entertainment and self-exploration only and does not constitute medical, legal, financial, or investment advice. Zi Wei Dou Shu is not equivalent to Western astrology and has no one-to-one match with Western planets, signs, or houses. The Palaces and Major Stars may be compared to houses and archetypal characters only as a learning aid. A meaningful chart requires birth date, birth time to the minute, birth place, and gender; accuracy depends on those inputs, and true solar time is optional but described as more accurate. The free reading covers 14 Major Stars and 12 Life Areas, while full AI readings require a paid plan or single unlock. Reading allowances are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash, and monthly allowances do not roll over. The monthly subscription auto-renews, so users must cancel for period-end cancellation if they do not want it to continue.
