Overview
What is TatSketch?
TatSketch is an AI tattoo design tool that turns text descriptions into visual concepts. It is operated by Shengjin Digital LLC in Wyoming, United States. The site includes an AI Tattoo Generator, a Tattoo Font Generator, and style pages for Fine Line, Japanese, and American Traditional tattoos. TatSketch presents itself as a starting point for tattoo idea exploration: users describe a subject, mood, or style, review generated directions, then bring preferred designs to a tattoo artist for placement, size, and technical drawing discussions. The homepage says the first design can be tried free without an account. Free designs use the Standard model at 1:1 and 1K and are delivered as watermarked previews for personal use only. The About page states that TatSketch does not replace a tattoo artist; it gives users something concrete to bring to a consultation.
How TatSketch works
The generator follows a five-step workflow. First, describe the tattoo: subject, composition, linework, shading, colors, or elements to leave out. A Surprise me option provides a starting point. Second, choose a style such as Black & Grey, Illustrative, Japanese, or Fine line, or select No style to rely on the description. The prompt still controls subject and details. Third, set generation options: Generation model, Aspect ratio, and Resolution. The free design is Standard, 1:1, 1K; locked choices link to pricing, and 4K requires a portrait or landscape ratio. Fourth, click Generate Tattoo after checking the credit amount shown beside it. The design appears in the result panel. Fifth, save and download. Guests must sign in to download and save designs to an account. Saved designs appear in My Works. Users can download a watermarked preview, or the original if their account has access. TatSketch recommends bringing the chosen design to a tattoo artist to discuss size, placement, and changes.

Pricing
The pricing page shows monthly and yearly options. Starter is listed at $9.90/month against a $12.90 reference, with a 23% saving label. It includes 180 credits per month, up to 60 designs at 1K, 1K and 2K generation, the Standard model, watermark-free downloads, and commercial use.
Designer, marked Recommended, is listed at $19.90/month against $29.90, with a 33% saving label. It includes 540 credits per month, up to 180 designs at 1K, 1K, 2K, and 4K generation, Standard and Pro models, watermark-free downloads, and commercial use.
Ultra is listed at $39.90/month against $69.90, with a 42% saving label. It includes 1,200 credits per month, up to 400 designs at 1K, 1K, 2K, and 4K generation, Standard and Pro models, watermark-free downloads, commercial use, early access to new features, and priority email support.
Credit costs per text-to-tattoo design: Standard 1K 3, 2K 5, 4K 8; Pro 1K 6, 2K 10, 4K 16. Extra credits are subscriber-only: 75 credits for $4.90, up to 25 designs at 1K; 180 credits for $9.90, up to 60 designs at 1K. Monthly credits expire at the end of each credit period and do not roll over. Annual plans receive credits monthly. Extra credits do not expire, but an active subscription is required to buy and use them. Taxes are calculated at checkout. The FAQ states unused purchases may qualify for a full refund within 7 days, with additional conditions for subscription purchases.
Common use cases
TatSketch is presented for early-stage tattoo idea exploration. Users can test a subject or mood, compare styles such as Fine line or Japanese, and produce a concrete reference for an artist brief. It may help someone planning a first tattoo or adding to existing work. Saved designs can be downloaded and brought to a consultation to discuss what to keep or change. With a subscription, outputs can be used commercially, though designs are not guaranteed to be exclusive or free of third-party rights. The separate Tattoo Font Generator is listed for text-based design needs.
Limitations
TatSketch does not replace a tattoo artist. The About page states that artists bring expertise in placement, scale, how designs work on skin, and technical drawing. Generated concepts are a starting point for that conversation.
Free access is one Standard 1K design with a watermarked preview; signing up does not provide another free generation. Free designs are personal use only. Credit packs alone do not unlock original downloads. Monthly credits expire and do not roll over. Extra credits require an active subscription to buy and use, though unused extra credits remain in the account after subscription ends and become usable again on resubscription under the current plan.
Plan features vary. Starter includes the Standard model with 1K and 2K. Designer and Ultra unlock Pro and 4K generation; 4K requires a portrait or landscape format. After cancellation, benefits remain until the end of the paid period. Designs generated before subscription expiry keep original download access afterward; designs generated after expiry require another subscription to unlock originals. Commercial use is unlocked by subscription, including previously saved free designs, but designs are not guaranteed to be exclusive or free of third-party rights. Saved designs are private by default. Refund eligibility has conditions, and the pricing FAQ should be checked for current terms.
Summary
TatSketch is an AI tattoo design tool that turns text prompts into visual concepts, with style presets, generation controls, saved works, and credit-based subscriptions. A free Standard 1K design allows initial testing, while paid plans add credits, higher resolutions, watermark-free downloads, and commercial use. Its clearest role is idea exploration and preparing an artist brief, not producing final tattoo artwork.
