Square Face Generator is a browser-based avatar maker that lets you build square face icons and profile pictures without installing anything or creating an account. It sits in the same space as Picrew-style character creators, but with a narrower focus: square-format faces designed for use as PFPs, forum avatars, and social profile icons.
The tool offers three distinct visual styles — Original, Classic, and Pixel. The Classic style is a modern recreation of the Flash-era square face icon generators that were popular on sites like Flash Museum and Icongenerators.net before Adobe ended Flash support in 2020. The Pixel style leans into blocky, retro aesthetics. The Original style uses its own Canvas-drawn parts that sit outside either of those references.
Within each style, you can adjust face shape, hair, eyes, mouth, clothing, accessories, and background. A random generation button produces a complete face instantly, which is useful if you want a starting point rather than building from scratch.
Finished avatars export as PNG files at three sizes: 256, 512, or 1024 pixels. The 512px option covers most social platform PFP requirements, including Discord. The 1024px option is better suited for platforms that display larger profile previews. The 256px size works for compact icon contexts.
Alongside downloading, you can copy a shareable link that encodes your avatar configuration. That link can be posted directly to social platforms or forums.
One detail worth knowing: avatars that are downloaded or shared may be automatically published to the site's public community gallery. There is no explicit opt-in step. The browser that triggered the publish receives a removal token, which lets you hide the avatar from the gallery later — but that token is tied to the browser session, so clearing cookies could mean losing removal access.
The primary audience is people who want a square avatar quickly and without friction. That includes Discord users, gamers setting up forum or platform profiles, and social media users who want something more distinctive than a default icon but do not want to spend time in a full character creator.
There is also a nostalgia angle. Users who remember the original Flash-based square face tools from the early 2000s and 2010s have been searching for a working equivalent since Flash was discontinued. This tool positions itself as that replacement, with original artwork rather than recovered Flash assets.
Mobile users are a practical fit as well. The generator runs in a standard browser and does not require a separate app download, which makes it usable on phones and tablets without extra steps.
The typical workflow is short. You pick a style, adjust the face parts you care about, optionally hit Random to explore variations, choose an export size, and download or copy a share link. There is no project-saving system tied to an account, so the session is essentially stateless — what you see is what you export.
The public gallery serves as a browsing resource. Each community avatar includes an accessibility description, which also makes the gallery useful for search. You can browse it for style ideas before starting your own.
Square Face Generator is free to use. There is no paywall, no premium tier, and no signup required to create or export an avatar. Optional account registration exists on the site, but it is not needed for the core avatar workflow.
The absence of an account system is both a convenience and a limitation. You can start immediately without any registration step, but there is no way to retrieve a previous avatar across devices or sessions unless you saved the share link.
Choose between Original, Classic (Flash-era remake), and Pixel styles, each with distinct face parts and aesthetics.
All face parts are drawn with original Canvas assets — no Flash, no plugins, no install required.
Download avatars at 256, 512, or 1024 pixels to match platform requirements for icons, PFPs, or high-res profiles.
Copy a direct link to your avatar configuration and share it on social platforms or forums.
Generate a randomized face instantly, then fine-tune individual parts and colors from there.
Browse shared avatars from other users for inspiration, each with an accessibility description.
